Update from club chairman Steve Williams ahead of this afternoon match against Bedfont Sports FC #SUMAS

We welcome the officials, players and supporters of Bedfont Sports FC to The Lowther.
Welcome to the referee and referee assistants you are much valued and we hope you enjoy your afternoon at The Lowther.

So our new manager Darren Purbrick (unfortunately not at the game today – don’t ask !) has now been involved with the team for the last five fixtures in short succession – 9 days to be precise, as we try and meet the CCL and FA regulations and get all our remaining fixtures completed by 27th April. Naturally this situation has been caused by postponed fixtures due to waterlogged pitches both at home and away, with February 2024 being the wettest month on UK record !  However our final league fixture v Hilltop has been now moved to Monday 29th.

So in the last 5 games we gained 7 points and have moved off the bottom of the league….finally, which is fantastic news – well done Darren, our coaches and assistants and of course the players.

Now sitting in 19th place with 28 points, one above Chalfont, and two behind Hilltop. We currently have three games in hand v Chalfont and are one game ahead of Hilltop, so our next few games are key to staying up at step 5 next season. More info from our Director of Football further in the programme.

The run up to the end of the season and making our ‘great escape’ is as follows: today Bedfont, 23/4 away to Egham, 25/4 away to North Greenford, 27/4 home to Burnham and 29/4 home to Hilltop – 5 tough games within 9 days !

Further on in the programme you will find some exciting club news for next season !

The Sumas squad have to be praised for their fitness and agility over these last few weeks of the season playing so many games over a very short space of time, not at all ideal but it has to be done.

Therefore our lads need all the moral support they can get from both the club and our supporters to keep going with decent results over the next nine days. Please show them that we can win together as always, your support will certainly help in carrying us through these next few difficult weeks.

COME ON SUMAS
